Overview

Symptoms

There can be a number of symptoms with UTIs, but it is likely that stinging will be experienced. Other symptoms include changes in the frequency of urinating, an urgency to pass urine, blood in the urine, smelly or cloudy urine and a pain in the lower stomach. Older men may become confused or agitated.

Treatment

Most infections can be treated with a short course of antibiotics but it is important to seek the help of a urologist if the UTIs are persistent or if there are other symptoms that indicate an underlying condition, such as diabetes.
